I went to Delaware Technical Community College and was in the Exercise Science program. During my final semester, I did my internship with Cardio-Kinetics, and was offered a position with them after graduation. I took the position with Cardio-Kinetics and have been the Fitness Center Director and now Internal Health and Wellness Director at Highmark Delaware for 10 years. Over the past 10 years I have taken CK’s role at Highmark from just the Fitness Center to working in all areas of employee wellness. I also taught Kinesiology and Exercise Science at Delaware Tech for a few years as an adjunct, until my schedule became too crazy. I sit on the board and volunteer at the United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware, which is a non-profit that helps people with disabilities in many different ways – kids summer camps, adult housing, respite programs, etc. I do all their social media and try to give back in any way that I can!
cutting the grass and doing yard work. This is my “me” time and I love having the house with the perfect garden and yard. My husband loves that he does not have to do this!
Sunday dinners at my grandparents with my huge family where my cousins were more like siblings to me than cousins. Sundays consisted of love, laughter, homemade Italian food and endless waffle ball and other games in the backyard with 20+ people. I love thinking back to how simple life was and how wonderful these times were! My family is my world and is even larger now, and although it is not every Sunday, we still get together often!
small changes can have a big impact and often lead to bigger changes! Everyone wants instant gratifications, but changing patterns and behaviors that you have done for a long time, will take time, so be patient and consistent. There is no one plan or program that works for everyone. Having a program or plan that has been customized to work with your lifestyle, schedule, personality and mindset is key to having success!
